Marduk - Wormwood [2009]

New guitar style. There's a lot more movement on the guitars during fast parts. However, during slower parts, it's in the style that I'm accustomed to with Marduk. A bit of creativity is still there in smaller doses. There's less of the pitch-black atmosphere of Rom 5:12 that I loved so much, but it's balanced out by more grinding and a substantial change in guitar style.

Marduk - Rom 5:12 [2007]

Starts off very slow compared to most Marduk albums. Really good production… actually, very excellent production. It seems like the album wants to pick up speed after a few songs, but it goes right back into slow stuff. It's a little frustrating, but the frustration just makes songs like "Through the Belly of Damnation" all the more sweet. It's a bit more of an artistic album. In the end, this is a fucking brilliant album with some pitch-black atmosphere. Mortuus lays down some of the most bone-chilling and creatively dirty vocals I've heard in Black Metal.

Marduk - World Funeral [2003]

One hell of a start. The grinding songs are broken up nicely by slow-tempo songs that have a crushing quality to them. The production is awesome, even though it's a little over-compressed. The songs are very well-written with catchy and evil riffs saturating many of the songs so thickly that it feels like I'm experiencing blunt-force trauma via an aluminum baseball bat. Blistering speed, like I've come to expect from Marduk. However, the vocals are extremely one-dimensional compared to what Mortuus has done since he joined the band; it's not really a mark against the album, but I've grown spoiled by his awesome vocals.
